From the recording Lifiatus
A refection on my hiatus from writing and performing songs where the ‘loose stones’ are reasons or excuses for me not making time to do something I enjoy and keeping the ‘lights’ on.
Lyrics
A loose stone rolls right up to my door.
I’m left wondering, why he’s there at all:
To break my wall, my mindset that ideals cannot be paved?
Deep breaths of borrowed air I draw to tell stories of what’s been told
before with my twist, my spirit, my beat, my ammo.
In every way I gave up waiting for me.
Now every day I know just where I want to be, so why not now?
You kept calling, calling out to say, “It’s too dark here”.
I just left the light off, light off, light off for years.
A loose stone comes smashing through my door.
They keep loading: building up the wall.
They give me warning that it’s all about to fall down.
And in this cold-out hour she knows, she knows.
You kept calling, calling out my name. It’s too dark here.
I just left the light off, light off, light off for years.
